SEATTLE, WA, Nov 16, 2009 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Global supercomputer leader Cray Inc. (NASDAQ: CRAY) today announced
that the Cray CX1(TM) deskside supercomputer has been named "Best HPC
Cluster Solution or Technology" by the editors of HPCwire as part of
the publication's 2009 Readers' and Editors' Choice Awards.
Additionally, Cray has been named one of the "Top Five Vendors to
Watch" by HPCwire readers, and Cray President and CEO, Peter Ungaro,
has been named to HPCwire's "People to Watch in 2010" list.
Presented by the most widely read publication in the high-performance
computing (HPC) industry, the HPCwire Readers' and Editors' Choice
Awards were determined through online polling of the global HPCwire
audience, along with a rigorous selection process involving HPCwire
editors and industry luminaries. The awards are an annual feature of
the publication and constitute prestigious recognition from the HPC
community.
"The acknowledgement from both the editors and readers of HPCwire is
a real honor to Cray and its employees and we truly appreciate being
presented with these awards, which is a result of all of our hard work
over the last year," said Peter Ungaro, president and CEO of Cray.
"The award for our CX1 system is especially meaningful since we
introduced it just over a year ago. With the recent release of two
new line extensions -- the Cray CX1-LC and the Cray CX1-iWS -- the
Cray CX line is poised to make an even larger impact on the market,
bringing ease-of-use computing to a broader set of customers in
2010."
