SEATTLE, Sep 27, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Global supercomputer leader Cray Inc.
(NasdaqNM:CRAY) today announced it came in first in Deloitte & Touche's
"Technology Fast 50" Program for Washington state, a ranking of the 50 fastest
growing technology companies in the area.
Rankings are based on the percentage of growth in fiscal year revenues from
1997-2001.
"It's an honor to be acknowledged by the Deloitte & Touche Fast 50 for the
strong growth we've achieved over the past years," commented Jim Rottsolk, Cray
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "Our employees have worked extremely hard
to bring Cray back to the forefront of supercomputing and we're very
appreciative of the recognition."
Larry Hile, Deloitte & Touche, Technology, Media, and Telecommunications,
Partner noted that Washington state is fortunate to have a world class
supercomputing company here in the Northwest. "Cray has been a pioneer in the
supercomputing industry and it has played a significant role in the reemergence
of supercomputing in the U.S. and around the world," he said. "We have been
watching their growth for some time and it's gratifying to see them top the
Deloitte & Touche Fast 50 list."
To qualify for the Fast 50, companies must have had operating revenues of at
least $50,000 in 1997 and $1,000,000 in 2001, must be public or private
companies headquartered in North America, and be "technology companies" defined
as companies that own proprietary technology which contributes to a significant
portion of the company's operating revenues or devotes a high percentage of
effort to research and development of technology. Winners of the 20 regional
Technology Fast 50 programs in the United States and Canada are automatically
entered in the Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 500 program, which ranks North
America's top 500 fastest growing technology companies. For more information on
